Hampshire sweeps Frankfort

Trojans dominate in winning their 10th, 11th straight games

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Brothers Garrett and Josh Crawford combined to allow one run on four hits in 10-0 and 14-1 drubbings of Frankfort at Hampshire High School on Tuesday, making it 11 consecutive wins for the Trojans.

Hampshire (19-1) hasn’t lost since falling to Greenbrier Christian Academy 3-0 on April 6 at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

Against the Falcons, Garrett Crawford allowed just three hits and no walks in the five-inning shutout in the first game. Josh Crawford, Shane Ennis, Matt Harris and Trevor Largent each drove in two runs.

Tyler Conley and Gage Shaffer doubled and Hunter Jenkins singled for the Falcons’ three hits.

Josh Crawford ceded only an RBI single by Braiden Popluhar in the five-inning second game. He drove in two more at the plate.

Garrett Crawford launched a two-run home run. Bucky Timbrook doubled and singled twice, driving in two. Matt Maiers scored two on a double and a single. David Delawder added two singles after doubling in the first game.

Hampshire hopes to extend the streak today when it hosts Berkeley Springs beginning at 5 p.m.

Frankfort (13-14) will look to rebound at Northern on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

ACCIDENT — Jerad Fike pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run for Northern in a win over Mountain Ridge at Northern on Tuesday.

Fike surrendered just three hits, each singles, by Tucker Burley, Jake Kyle and Michael Livingston.

Tyler Bittinger singled twice with an RBI. Hunter Hill added an RBI single for the Huskies.

Northern (10-7) hosts Fort Hill today at 4:30 p.m.

Mountain Ridge (10-6) plays tonight at Keyser at 7:30 p.m.

Bishop Walsh    1


CUMBERLAND — Southern laced five singles in a row in a five-run fourth on its way to a six-inning victory over Bishop Walsh Tuesday in an AMAC baseball game at Holler Field.

Seth Holler went 4-for-5 with four singles and scored twice, while Tristan Nazelrod doubled and singled for the Rams.

Tony Russell singled twice for Bishop Walsh.

Southern (3-12 overall, 2-8 AMAC) will play at Hampshire Thursday. Bishop Walsh (2-11, 1-7) will host Mountain Ridge on Thursday.

Grace    10

Calvary    8


BOWLING GREEN — Grace scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to retake the lead, then held on to defeat Calvary on Tuesday afternoon at the Hot Stove Complex’s Memorial Field.

After Calvary scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 7-7, Grace put three runs up in the top of the seventh to retake the lead at 10-7.

In the bottom of the inning, the Eagles scored a run and had their rally stopped with the bases loaded when the final out was recorded.

Both teams finished with 11 hits.

Ben Quirple, Hank Barger and Jacob Buwalda each had two hits for Grace. Barger scored three runs and drove in another while Quirple and Buwalda each scored once.

Calvary’s Justin Swogger had two hits, scored four times and drove in two. Levi Hartsock had three hits, including a double, with two RBIs and he scored once.

The Eagles ended the first inning up 3-1, trailed after three 6-4 and were behind 7-6 through five innings.

Calvary (7-4, 6-3 Mason-Dixon Christian Conference) visits Broadfording Christian Academy in Hagerstown on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Paw Paw    3


SALISBURY, Pa. — Tim Garlitz tripled and singled, driving in four runs to lead Salisbury in a victory over Paw Paw Monday evening.

Brandon Bodes drove in two on three singles. Roberto Pattison added a double and a single. Doug Foye threw a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out nine.

Josh Newlon and River Weese each doubled and singled. Devin Abe singled twice for Paw Paw.

Salisbury (5-5) hosts Shanksville today at 7:30 p.m. and Paw Paw (3-12) plays at Union today at 4:30 p.m.

HYNDMAN, Pa. — Lance Leydig and Trent Schrock each had three hits for Meyersdale in a 10-run, five-inning  victory at Hyndman on Monday.

Steven Haer pitched all five, allowing five hits and one run.

Micah Stair went 3 for 3 with a double. M.J. Messenger was 2 for 2 with a double. Elijah Stair drove in the Hornets’ only run with a single.

Hyndman (5-5) hosts Forbes Road for a doubleheader on Monday beginning at 2 p.m.
