‘Tornado Ultimate Runner’ July 20 at Keyser
KEYSER, W.Va. — The Tornado Ultimate Runner event will be held at Keyser on Saturday, July 20. The event will feature runners competing in five different races of varying lengths on the same day, similar to a track meet. The Ultimate Runner champion will be determined by the combined place number of the participants in all of the races.
Runners will begin the day with a 5,000-meter cross country race which will begin and end at the Keyser High School track. They will then compete in races of 400 meters, 1600 meters, and 100 meters on the track. The final race will be a five-mile road race that will also begin and end on the track. The event is meant to provide a level of competition that will allow runners with track speed and runners with distance endurance to compete against each other.
Awards will be presented in 12 age and gender categories as well as for the overall Ultimate Runner. There will also be a team championship which will take the lowest place in each event for team members to determine a championship team.
