Calvary’s Karly Hipsley repeats on All-MDCC team

Emerick, boys scoring champ Dillow named second-team

CRESAPTOWN — Calvary Christian Academy’s Karly Hipsley, who scored her 1,000th career point and grabbed her 1,000th career rebound during her senior season, was named to the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls basketball first team for the second straight year.
Hipsley led the team in scoring and rebounding again this year, and was among the area leaders in both categories. She averaged a double-double with 17.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Her 17.2 scoring average third best in the area.
Hipsley also led the Eagles in foul shooting, making 134 of 215 attempts for 62 percent, and had 53 steals, 38 assists and 38 blocks for the Eagles.
She finished her career with 1,150 points and 1,029 rebounds, becoming only the second girls player in Calvary history with more than 1,000 career points and rebounds. She plans to further her basketball career next year at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa.
Junior Payton Emerick was named second-team all-conference after averaging 8.8 points and 5.1 rebounds. She also had 65 assists and 44 steals as the Eagles starting point guard.
Hipsley and Emerick helped lead the Lady Eagles to a 17-9 record and third place in the conference’s regular season and playoff tournament.
On the boys side, Calvary’s Matt Dillow was named second-team all-conference. Dillow, the Mason-Dixon Conference scoring champion, averaged a double-double for the season with 21.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. He also averaged 4.8 assists and 2.5 steals, and hit 90 of 129 foul shots for 70 percent.
Dillow scored his 1,000th career point and grabbed his 1,000th career rebound this year. He is the sixth Calvary boys player to score 1,000 points and the first to get 1,000 rebounds.
Dillow, who had 20 double-doubles and one triple-double during the season, led the area in three-point goals with 66 and was second in the area in scoring.
