PG sweeps ACM

— UPPER MARLBORO  — Prince George’s scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the first game 6-5 before holding off an Allegany College of Maryland rally to win the second game by the same score to sweep a doubleheader from the Trojans Wednesday in Maryland JUCO softball.

In the early outing, Allegany and the Owls traded a run in the first inning and the Trojans took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second before PG answered with four runs in the bottom half. Allegany scored one run in the third and added two more in the fourth to tie the score before the Owls scored in the bottom of the sixth to take the final lead.

Wright hit a triple, and Proter had two singles in the win. The Trojans were led at the plate by Bailey Sinai’s three singles and three runs batted in. Kaylee DeVore hit a triple and a single and Kayla Hutson added two singles.

Allegany fell behind 6-1 after three innings later in the day, but scored one run in each of the final four innings to draw to within a run.

Samantha Moore had two of PG’s nine hits with a triple and a single.

Sinai gave the Trojans a pair of doubles, while Paris Duncan and Lindsey Lancaster had two singles each.

Allegany (1-7) stays in conference to play at Anne Arundel on Saturday for a noon doubleheader.
