Frostburg softball meeting Sunday

FROSTBURG — The Frostburg Mens Softball League will be holding a meeting on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Frostburg Community Center.

Any team wishing to enter the league should have a representative at this meeting. For more information, call Charlie Grove at 301-268-5780.

FSU’s Filauro CAC’s top baseball player

YORK, Pa. — Frostburg State senior J.K. Filauro was selected the Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

Filauro helped the Bobcats (8-4) to a pair of wins in three outings. Frostburg ended Stevenson’s nine-game winning streak with a 16-5 win in the second game of a doubleheader. The Bobcats then trounced Oneonta, 26-6, on Sunday.

Filauro hit .777 (7 for 9) in two games with six runs scored, four RBIs, a double and a home run. He was 4-for-4 with a double and homer in the win over Stevenson 3 for 5 with four runs against Oneonta.

FSU plays at Gallaudet today.

FSU’s Brunett gets weekly lacrosse honor

YORK, Pa. — Frostburg State junior midfielder Malory Brunett was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.

Brunett had an impact all over the field on Saturday in the Bobcats’ 13-12 overtime win over Allegheny, the  team’s only action of the week. She scored four goals on four shots and added eight draw controls, five ground balls and caused four turnovers.

Through three games, Brunett leads the team in goals (10), draw controls (19), caused turnovers (8) and ground balls (12).

Spring sports schedules, rosters requested

CUMBERLAND — Area high school athletic directors or head coaches of spring sports teams who have not yet provided the Times-News with copies of their team schedules and rosters are requested to do so.

Silver Hoop meeting tonight

CUMBERLAND — A final meeting will be held today, at 7 p.m., in the old gymnasium at Fort Hill High School, for anyone interested in entering a team in this year’s Silver Hoop Basketball Tournament.
