Dorsey leads Frankfort to 3-2 win

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Colton Dorsey struck out nine batters in six innings and delivered the go-ahead run with a single in the bottom of the sixth as Frankfort beat Mineral County rival Keyser 3-2 Friday in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference action.

The Falcons (3-3) outhit the Golden Tornado 8-5, led by Cole Smith’s double and two singles with a run scored. Tyler Conley added a hit and a run, and Dorsey had two singles.

On the mound, Dorsey worked the first six innings and allowed two runs with the nine strikeouts. Josh McNeil entered in the seventh and struck out three more for a total of 12 Frankfort punch outs

“Colton did a little of everything for us,” said Frankfort coach Matt Miller. “You like to see your seniors step up and come through when the team needs them.”

For Keyser, Josh Bane drove in two runs with a single and Noah Hartman had a double and a single.

Frankfort plays Monday at home against Fort Hill. Keyser is scheduled to play today at Williamsport.

 

Hampshire 5, Elkins 3

ELKINS, W.Va. — Matt Maiers allowed three runs in five innings and had three hits at the plate to lead Hampshire over Elkins at Elkins on Friday.

Maiers allowed all three runs in the first inning before stifling Elkins for the next four innings. Shane Ennis closed it out with two scoreless innings. Garrett Crawford had a two-run single. Josh Crawford and David Delawder each hit RBI singles.

Clayton Collett and Silas Gibson each hit two singles for Elkins.

Hampshire (4-0) plays in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Aynor.

 

Northern loses to Meyersdale, Berkeley Springs

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Northern was shutout, 2-0, by Meyersdale, followed by a 10-4 loss to Berkeley Springs Thursday at Berkeley Springs in the Border War Easter Tournament.

Steven Haer struck out 11 in six innings for Meyersdale.

Jerad Fike kept the Huskies in it, allowing one earned run over five innings. Beck Sherrard and Seth Mast accounted for their two hits.

Jared Spielman threw four innings allowing four runs while drining in three runs for Berkeley Springs in the 10-4 victory.

Zack wise and Cameron Johnson each drove in two.

Fike drove in two for the Huskies. Aaron Rodeheaver and Brooks Carr each drove in one while Trevon Jones added two singles.

Northern (0-3) plays at Allegany Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
