FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Cody Lambert and Logan Cooper teamed for a two-hit shutout in the opener and Daniel Hevener tripled, singled and knocked in two runs in the nitecap as Pendleton swept a doubleheader from Paw Paw 6-0 and 12-2 Saturday in high school baseball.
The first game was a scoreless pitchers duel until the fifth, when the Wildcats scored three runs. Andrew Thompson had a two-run single in a three-run sixth made it 6-0.
Thompson had two singles and Logan Raines had one single to account for Pendleton’s three hits. Cooper, who relieved in the fifth, got the win. He struck out seven in three innings, including the side in the sixth and seventh innings.
River Weese had two singles for Paw Paw. He allowed three hits, walked six and struck out seven in a complete-game performance.
The second game was shortened to six innings by the 10-run rule.
Hevener tripled and singled, Thompson had two more singles and three RBIs, Kyle Kretzschmar a single and two RBIs and Luke Yokum an RBI single for Pendleton.
Josh Newlon had two singles for Paw Paw. Newlon struck out seven in four innings.
Pendleton (2-3, 2-0 PVC) hosts Frankfort on Tuesday. The jayvees play at 4:30 and the varsity will follow.
Paw Paw (0-3, 0-2) plays at Hope for Hyndman in a 2:30 doubleheader on April 8.
