Northern rides Carr, Rodeheaver past Spartans

CUMBERLAND — Aaron Rodeheaver tossed a four-hitter and Brooks Carr went 3 for 3 to lead Northern past Bishop Walsh 8-1 at Al Martin Field.

Rodeheaver allowed only a second-inning run and struck out seven in a complete-game win.

Carr had three singles to lead a 10-hit attack. Jerad Fike had two singles and Beck Sherrard tripled.

Quincy Redmon hit a pair of doubles and scored BW’s run on an RBI single by Austin Murray. Reliever Hunter Marrale struck out four over the final two innings.

Northern (3-3) hosts Keyser on Monday. Bishop Walsh (0-2) begins City play Tuesday at Fort Hill.

Calvary    16

Grace    7

HAGERSTOWN — Mark Capper was a home run shy of the cycle, while also scoring three runs to lead Calvary to a win, 16-7, at Grace Academy Friday.

Justin Swogger also scored three runs on two singles and a walk. Levi Hartsock raked two doubles and two singles.

Cole Helman had a rough start on the mound and got the loss, but he lined two doubles and scored twice. Harry Barter tripled and scored, and Eli Gaylor added two singles and a run for Grace.

Calvary (2-0) plays at Shalom on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Berlin    8

Hyndman    7

HYNDMAN, Pa. — Berlin scored the game-tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the seventh to win 8-7 at Hyndman Friday.

Micah Stair relieved MJ Messinger in the fifth after starting the game behind the plate, and earned the loss. He also had two hits for the Hornets.

Hyndman (1-2) plays again Monday.


Southern    13

Fort Hill    8

CUMBERLAND — Southern scored nine runs in a three-inning span to erase an early deficit and beat Fort Hill at Bower Field.

Fort Hill scored six runs in the third inning to take a 7-4 lead, but the Rams regained the lead with a four-run fourth, then scored two more in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Southern (1-3 overall, 1-0 AMAC) had 12 hits, all singles. Scott Cooper and Tristan Nazelrod had three and Seth Holler and Matt Imhoff two.

Fort Hill (0-3, 0-3) had 11 hits. Brandon Stotler tripled and singled and Chris King, Blair Brittian and Devan Erichson had two singles.

Fort Hill will host Bishop Walsh on Tuesday. Southern was scheduled to have played at Keyser last night.
