ACM beats PG, 59-51

CUMBERLAND — Monique Rhodes scored 25 points and Madi Nightengale had 16 as Allegany rode a strong team performance to a 59-51 win over Prince George’s in Maryland JUCO action Wednesday at Bob Kirk Arena.

Derica Souder added 10 points, Paris Duncan grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and Christina Briscoe dished out seven assists for the Trojans, who went on top for good midway through the second half.

“It was a great team win for us. We had all-out effort on both ends of the floor,’’ said ACM coach Bethany Sindy. “The girls rallied together and made good decisions with the basketball, and we had players step up and make big plays.”

Kayla Hutson hit a three-point shot to break a 47-47 tie with eight minutes left and Nightengale canned several jumpers on the transition to help the Trojans pull away.

Rhodes was particularly strong attacking inside and hit 11 field goals and three free throws in leading all scorers. Briscoe was cited for strong play at point guard, handling the ball smartly and distributing it well, especially late in the game.
