SALISBURY — Top-seeded Salisbury unloaded for six home runs, with Nick Gentry and Quinn Griffith hitting two each, in a 22-5 rout of Frostburg State in their Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament game Friday afternoon.
Salisbury (25-6) had hit just five home runs for the season before smacking six against the Bobcats. The Sea Gulls finished with 21 hits, eight for extra bases, and scored in seven of their eight at-bats.
Frostburg State (20-14), which lost a first-round game to Wesley earlier in the week, was eliminated from the tournament.
Gentry, Griffith and Evan Graci, the No. 2, 3 and 4 hitters in the Salisbury order, were a combined 10 for 15 with five home runs, 11 runs scored and 15 RBIs.
Gentry was 3 for 5 with a two-run homer in the fifth and a grand slam in the sixth. Griffith was 4 for 5 with two-run homers in the first and third, and Graci was 3 for 5 with a two-run homer and a two-run single. Bobby Sanzone added a two-run homer and RBI single.
Pat Sapp and Rob Jennings were 2 for 3 with an RBI for Frostburg State, which had 13 hits. Matt Donaldson, Kevin Kean and Dylan Shupe doubled.
Frostburg State hosts Marietta (Ohio) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
