CATONSVILLE — Despite the warmer weather, the Allegany College of Maryland bats were cold Saturday as the Trojans dropped a doubleheader to Catonsville to fall to 2-5.
Allegany managed two runs on five hits and Ryan Redinger had eight strikeouts, but Catonsville got eight hits and won 4-2 in the opener. Mark Burnside tossed a three-hit shutout for the Cardinals in a 1-0 win in the second game.
Catonsville scored a run in the first, another in the fifth and broke a 2-2 tie with two more in the bottom of the sixth to win the first outing. Mike Morris had two singles and scored a run in the win.
ACM’s Dylan Corl had two hits and two RBIs, and Cody Dorn drove in a run in the top of the sixth with a double.
Redinger falls to 0-1 despite the eight strikeouts.
Catonsville designated hitter Blake Overmiller hit a run-scoring single in the fifth for the only run of game two.
Zach Bradfield allowed three hits and one run in a complete game loss. He only had two strikeouts, but kept most of the Cardinals’ hitters off balance.
The Trojans return home today for a noon doubleheader with CCAC-South.
