CUMBERLAND — Lexie Metz scored the only goal of the night, early in the second half, as top-ranked Mountain Ridge shut out fourth-ranked Allegany Tuesday night at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
It was the third shutout of the season and second in a row for Mountain Ridge (4-0 overall, 4-0 AMAC). The loss was the first of the season for Allegany (1-1-2, 1-1).
Mountain Ridge held a distinct edge in shots but the only one that found the net was when Metz scored on an assist from Niven Hegeman in the 48th minute.
Chelsea Muir got the shutout with three saves for the Miners. Tori Bohrer had a much busier night in goal, making 23 saves for Allegany.
The Miners will host the Mountain Ridge Shootout on Friday and Saturday. Allegany’s next game will be Monday night at Northern.
