Mountain Ridge, Frankfort, BW booters get wins

— FROSTBURG — Niven Hegeman scored two goals to lead top-ranked and undefeated Mountain Ridge in a 6-0 defeat of Allegany in high school girls soccer Monday evening at Mountain Ridge.

Hayley Lindsey began the scoring on an assist from Casey Felker at 34:52. Felker then set up Hegeman with 12:59 left. Ashlyn Hormuth added an unassisted goal 1:09 later to make it 3-0, and Hegeman scored again, on a header, with Kylye DeHaven getting the assist to make it 4-0 at halftime.

Mountain Ridge (10-0-2) added second-half goals by Lexi Metz, on an assist from Samantha Sines, and Felker, assisted by DeHaven.

The Miners led in shots 33-6 and goalkeeper Chelsea Muir made four saves in getting the shutout. Tori Bohrer had eight saves for Allegany (5-5-2.

Mountain Ridge plays at Northern on Thursday at 7 p.m., and Allegany plays Fort Hill on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m., at Greenway Avenue Stadium.

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Morgan Turley scored two goals and assisted on another as fourth-ranked Frankfort blanked Fort Hill.

The Falcons (13-4-1 overall, 4-3 AMAC) scored twice in each half. Turley got Frankfort on the board with an unassisted goal with 27:41 left in the first half, and Victoria Moreland scored just 53 seconds later, on a pass from Turley, to make it 2-0.

Meaghan Eyler scored unassisted eight minutes into the second half, and Turley tacked on the final goal, also unassisted, with just over 20 minutes left.

Frankfort led in shots 19-5 and in corner kicks 4-1. Brooke Snyder made three saves in goal for the Falcons and Morgan Cranford had 10 for the Sentinels (1-9, 1-6).

Frankfort ends its regular season on Thursday at Petersburg. Fort Hill hosts Bishop Walsh on Thursday.

CUMBERLAND — Caroline Snyder put in two goals to lead Bishop Walsh to its second win in a row, on Senior Night BW.

Snyder gave the Spartans the early lead on an unassisted kick at 32:27. Rachel O’Rourke made it 2-0 with an unassisted score at 27:56. Petersburg (3-10) made it a one-goal game on a direct kick by Laura Brown with 9:50 left in the first.

Snyder’s second goal came with 20:24 remaining on a pass from O’Rourke.

Brittani Bible had 13 saves in goal for Petersburg and Abbey Workmeister made eight for the Spartans.

Bishop Walsh (6-11) plays at Fort Hill Thursday at 4 p.m. and Petersburg hosts Frankfort Thursday at 5 p.m.
