Blank third in Ohio tournament

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Local golfer John Blank finished third in the Super Senior Division of the Society of Seniors Jack Hesler Invitational, a 54-hole event held recently at the Columbus Country Club.

Blank, of Frostburg, had rounds of 79, 69 and 75 on the par 72 layout for a three-round 223 total, just two shots behind winner Ted Smith, of Wilkinson, Ind., who is the No. 1 ranked Super Senior golfer in the country. The Super Senior Division is for golfers ages 65 and up.

Slug Armstrong finished tied for 25th in the Senior Division, for ages 55 to 64, with a 235.


Flag football league to meet

CUMBERLAND — The Adult Flag Football League will hold a mandatory meeting today for anyone wishing to put a team in this year’s league. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. beside the basketball courts at the Mason Sports Complex. For more information, call Bryan at 240-580-0030.


Pee wee Cardinals seeks players

CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Cardinals pee wee football team is seeking football players. Any player the age of 6 before Sept. 1 and not 12 before Sept. 1 of this year is eligible to play. Anyone interested should call Coach Spencer at 301-697-0420.
