Oleksik shuts down Keyser, 11-1

Allegany pitcher strikes out 11 in six-inning one-hitter

CUMBERLAND — Matt Oleksik limited Keyser to one hit while Allegany pounded out 14 to lead the Campers to an 11-1 victory over the Golden Tornado in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference action Wednesday at Allegany High School.

Oleksik gave up a fifth-inning single to Keyser’s Christian Smith, allowed two walks and struck out 11 to pick up his first win out of two starts.

Colton Sivic was the offensive leader, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and two singles and an RBI. Ryan Murphy and Oleksik each went 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI. Dylan Shockey doubled and singled.

Allegany led 2-0 after the first inning, 6-0 after three, 8-0 through four, 10-1 after five and ended the game by the 10-run rule with a run in the sixth inning.

The Campers (4-1, 2-1 AMAC) host Mountain Ridge today beginning at 4:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Frostburg. The junior varsity game, also at 4:30 p.m., will be played at the Hot Stove Complex in Potomac Park.

Keyser (0-4, 0-3 AMAC) visits Southern Friday beginning at 2:30 p.m. The junior varsity team hosts Union today at 5 p.m.

PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Brandon George struck out 11 over six innings and drove in two runs at the plate in Petersburg’s win over Southern at Petersburg on Wednesday.

George didn’t cede the two runs until the sixth inning. Ryan Colaw relieved him in the seventh and struck out two batters.

Brett Reel stole two bases and scored three runs. Trevor Harman and Doug Lambert each went 2-for-4. Lambert and Justin Smith each had RBI doubles.

Matt Imhoff and Tristan Nazelrod each knocked two hits for the Rams. Seth Holler and Buck Scheffel both hit doubles.

Petersburg also won the jayvee game 9-2. Jacob Fawley had three hits. Colton Turner and Nick Dolly each thumped doubles.

Petersburg (8-1) plays tonight at Frankfort at 5 p.m.

Southern (0-3) plays at Fort Hill today at 4:30 p.m.
