BW wins at Polish Pines

KEYSER, W.Va. — Bishop Walsh had three players score within four strokes of one another on its way to winning a six-team match at Polish Pines Golf Course in Keyser Wednesday afternoon.

Brennan McMullen led the Spartans with a 38 while Lucas McGill fired a 40 and Austin Murray scored a 42. Zack Ruppenkamp added a 47 to give Bishop Walsh a total of 167, beating second-place Keyser by 10 strokes.

Mountain Ridge's Jacob Timney shot a 36 to earn low-medalist honors. Keyser's Matt Landes was second with a 37 to help the Golden Tornado finish with 177. Travis Smith had a 43 for the Golden Tornado.

Moorefield took third with a 180 as Tanner Carr shot a 40 and Austin Williams 45. Mountain Ridge edged Petersburg for fourth, 186-188, and Frankfort closed with a 214.

Justin Wilson added a 46 for the Miners and Brian George and Ryan Colaw both had 44s for the Vikings.

Nick Smith shot a 49 to lead the Falcons.

Mountain Ridge hosts Bishop Walsh and Southern today at Maplehurst Country Club beginning at 4 p.m.

Keyser and Frankfort both play Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. The Tornado and Falcons play Allegany at Fore Sisters Golf Course and then both will take on Fort Hill and Mountain Ridge on Wednesday at Polish Pines. Both matches begin at 4 p.m.

Huskies win

by 13 strokes

McHENRY — Northern came in with a low team score of 197 to best three other teams in high school golf play Wednesday at The Wisp. Southern was second at 210, followed by Allegany with 211 and Fort Hill at 227.

Josh Lutton shot 46 for Fort Hill and Keegan Ott shot 46 for Allegany. Brady Benton came in at 47 for Northern and Jeff Bittinger at 48. Matt McCullough shot 49 and Cory Strum shot 50 for Southern.

Allegany, Southern, Mountain Ridge and Bishop Walsh will play at Maplehurst today. Northern will play Monday at The Wisp against Bishop Walsh, Mountain Ridge and Moorefield.
