Huskies open with 3-0 win

— ACCIDENT — Northern won their first match of the season in a 26-24, 25-19, 25-16, home opening sweep of Bishop Walsh Wednesday.

Nicole Scandrick served 12 points with nine digs. Natalie Johnson dropped nine service points. Lilly Sweitzer added eight points and 11 kills. Rhiannon Dodge racked up 18 assists for the Huskies.

Nicole Ross led the Spartans with nine service points. Sarah Rogers served seven with five kills. Meredith Dunn recorded five points, two aces, two kills and three digs.

Northern (1-1) plays at Salisbury Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Bishop Walsh (0-6) goes to Allegany today at 6 p.m.

Calvary  3, Cumberland Valley  0

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Shakayla Ganoe led Calvary to  three-game sweep of Cumberland Valley by scoring 18 points as the Eagles remained unbeaten by improving to 5-0 Tuesday night.

Ganoe’s 18 points included six aces and she also added three blocks. Karly Hipsley added eight kills and five blocks, while Payton Emerick contributed nine digs, seven kills and six points.

 The Eagles go again this evening when they visit Paw Paw at 6 p.m.

Southern JV 2, Allegany JV 1

OAKLAND — Southern won the junior varsity match over Allegany Tuesday night at Southern, 13-25, 25-19, 15-13. Morgan Winegardner had 12 points, six aces, two kills and seven digs for Southern, while Lauryn Moon had eight points, seven aces, and three digs. Jordyn Sines had seven points, two aces and seven assists and Alex Butina had seven points for Southern. Autumn had Holt nine aces and 11 assists for Allegany.
