Mongold marches Potomac State to win

— KEYSER, W.Va. — Morgan Mongold had a triple-double with 11 kills, 11 points and 21 digs to lead Potomac State to a 25-7, 25-18, 25-18 sweep of  visiting Westmoreland Thursday night.

Peyton Smith had nine service points, six kills and 16 digs, Julia Morikawa eight points and 37 digs an Alyssia Whitacre 13 assists and 11 digs for Potomac State. Stephanie Cornachia had nine kills and three blocks, Alexia Mauzy eight assists and five digs, Aimee Conley eight kills and Michaela Osborne seven kills.

The Catamounts (14-6) play Montgomery and the Community College of Rhode Island in a tri-match Saturday at Montgomery College.

Potomac State lost to Butler Wednesday night, 25-20, 27-25 and 26-24.

Mongold had 13 kills and 11 digs, Smith nine points, four aces, 27 assists and 18 digs, Conley seven kills and eight digs, Kaitlyn Semler six kills and Osborne five kills. Morikawa added seven points and 19 digs and Mauzy had seven points.

LaPLATA — Southern Maryland took three out of four in defeating Allegany College of Maryland, 25-20, 25-17, 22-25 and 25-16 Thursday night in Maryland JUCO volleyball.

Paris Duncan led Allegany, going 20 for 24 on attacks, with nine kills, 14 blocks and nine digs. Shae Winner was 26 for 28 on attacks with eight kills, while Morgan Ruppenkamp had three aces and nine digs.

Kayla Hutson had nine assists, five aces and 17 digs and Allie Hawkins 11 assists, two aces, four kills and 12 digs.

Allegany (7-13, 4-4 Maryland JUCO) will host Howard Saturday at 1 p.m.

Frostburg State    0

FROSTBURG — Mary Washington swept Frostburg State in a Capital Athletic Conference match, 25-17, 25-10, 25-17 on Wednesday.

Caityln Collins had 11 assists and 10 digs, April Wolfe had five kills and six digs and Morgan Hoover six kills and four blocks for Frostburg State (3-20, 0-2).

Frostburg State plays in a tri-match on Saturday at Christopher Newport (Va.).
