Miners roll to victory

CUMBERLAND — Abby Lauder served for 20 points to lead Mountain Ridge in a 25-8, 25-7, 25-14 sweep at Bishop Walsh in high school volleyball on Monday.

Lauder added five aces and 19 assists for the Miners. Sarah Raines served 12 points with five kills and Kiersten Miller added 11 points, five aces, seven kills and four digs.

Nicole Ross led the Spartans with five points and three aces. Andrea Contaldi served four points and three aces and Meredith Dunn contributed 10 digs.

Mountain Ridge (9-2) plays at Fort Hill and Bishop Walsh (0-18) goes to Hancock on Thursday.

Calvary 3, New Life 1

FREDERICK — Shakayla Ganoe filled the stat sheet with 15 points, 18 assists, 14 kills and six blocks for Calvary in a 25-16, 20-25, 25-22, 25-11 win at New Life.

Kerenne Shaffer racked up nine points with four aces, 18 digs and 16 kills, and Payton Emerick accounted for 17 points, four aces, 21 digs and seven kills for the Eagles.

Calvary (13-5) hosts Faith today at 4:30 p.m.

    YOUNGWOOD, Pa. — Mariah Martin tossed a two-hitter and Britani Chambers homered in the first game, and Meghan Anderson led a 13-hit attack in the second as Potomac State swept Westmoreland, 5-2 and 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon.
    In the opener, Martin, staked to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, allowed only two hits, struck out eight and walked just one in a complete-game victory.
