BW’s balance beats Keyser

Three Spartans score at least 15 points in 86-42 victory

CUMBERLAND — With a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds, Bishop Walsh senior Quincy Redmon recorded his 1,000th-career rebound and helped lead No. 2 Bishop Walsh to an 86-42 win over Keyser on Senior Night in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference action at Bishop Walsh.

With the 15 boards, Redmon now has 1,007 during his time with the Spartans. Earlier in the season he went over the 1,000-point mark and now sits at 1,150 for his career. He scored 17 against the Golden Tornado on seven field goals and three foul shots.

Liam Rhodes finished with 15 points, and Hunter Marrale also came in at 15. Billy Conroy scored 11 points using three of the Spartans’ 10 three-pointers. Lucas Brock had 13 rebounds and eight points and Chris Scarlett added nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Keyser’s Josh Golub scored 11 points while Ryan Streets added nine.

The Spartans were ahead 25-9 by the end of the first quarter, led 48-20 at halftime and 71-36 after three quarters.

Bishop Walsh (20-7, 13-2) plays at Hampshire in its regular season finale on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

HYNDMAN, Pa. — Brad Torbet scored the 1,000th point of his career by going for 30 points Thursday evening during a win over Fannett-Metal in the Pennsylvania Class A, District V playoffs.

Torbet sunk nine field goals and converted 12 of 15 foul shots to finish with 1,012 career points. Chad Deneen scored 15 points and Timmy Leydig added 10 for the Hornets.

Hyndman slowly built a four-point, 11-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and increased it to 20, 36-16 by halftime. The Hornets were ahead by 30 points, 58-28, entering the fourth.

Fannett-Metal’s Walker Bannister scored 13 points and Jordan Hurrell added 11.

Hyndman (17-6) will play the winner of Forbes Road and Shanksville at a neutral site on Tuesday.
