VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Renay Aubel homered and drove in five runs in an 8-0 win over Wilkes, and Caitlin Lovend singled home the winning run in the seventh inning in a 5-4 victory over Shenandoah as Frostburg State took a pair of games at the Beach Blast on Saturday.
In the five-inning win over Wilkes, Shari Beavers allowed only one hit in getting her second win of the season.
Abuel had a two-run single in the first inning and a three-run blast in the third for a quick 5-0 lead for FSU (3-1).
Lauren Capece hit a solo homer and an RBI single.
Against Shenandoah, Lovend hit a two-run single and Beavers and Taylor Vandegrift drove in single runs in a four-run second inning.
Shenandoah tied the game 4-4 in the top of the seventh before Taylor Blevins raced home on Lovend’s single in the bottom of the inning.
Mary Ann Moore went the distance for the win.
FSU (3-1) will play Lynchburg (Va.) in an opening-round game of the Salisbury Invitational on Friday at noon.
