FSU lacrosse routs DeSales, 14-6,
in ECAC opener
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Devin Colegrove scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead the Frostburg State men’s lacrosse team to a 14-6 victory over DeSales in the opening round of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament on Wednesday.
The second-seeded Bobcats (12-6) outshot DeSales 48-28 in winning for the fourth time in five matches. FSU led 5-2 at halftime and 9-5 after three quarters, then outscored the Bulldogs 5-1 in the fourth.
Nick Stailey scored three goals, Spenser Love had two goals and two assists and Spender Barnett added a goal and three assists. Tyler Haines made 12 saves in getting his 12th win in goal.
James Guerrier had a goal and two assists for seventh-seeded DeSales (8-9). Matt Warnken made 12 saves.
FSU will play Centenary in the semifinals on Saturday at Albright College.
Frostburg State’s Rob Jennings CAC player of week
YORK, Pa. — Frostburg State outfielder Rob Jennings was named the Capital Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week.
Jennings hit .555 (5-for-9) with two doubles, three runs scored, five RBIs and a stolen base in three games last week. In a sweep of Mt. Aloysius, Jennings was 3 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Jennings leads the Bobcats (25-15) with 49 RBIs and four home runs and is second in runs scored (32), hits (52), triples (5) and total bases (87).
Westernport Giants pee wee sign-ups Saturday

Allegany survives, wins region thriller
The Allegany Campers refused to take no for an answer Saturday afternoon, and in a game full of twists and turns, heroes off the bench and dramatic overtime endings, beat Manchester Valley in double overtime, 63-62, for the Class 1A West Region championship and a trip to next week’s state tournament.
Southern does it again!
Something felt awfully familiar with the Southern girls basketball team Saturday, but the Lady Rams are right at home with familiarity and are extremely satisfied with the status quo that comes with winning their second straight Maryland 1A West Region title.
McDonogh holds off Good Counsel, 39-37
McDonogh took a 31-16 lead into halftime, and looked to have complete control before Good Counsel cut the lead down to 10 points by the start of the fourth and got to within two points at the end, a 39-37 McDonogh win in the championship game of the Bishop Walsh Girls Invitational Tournament.
Martz, Shaffer win state titles
Mountain Ridge’s Adam Martz put the finishing touches on a perfect season by winning a state championship, and Southern Garrett’s Austin Shaffer also returns home a state champ after a big weekend at the Class 1A-2A State Wrestling Championships at the University of Maryland.
