Titans chop down Oaks

Tri-State sweeps DH 2-1, 6-4

OAKLAND — Tri-State and Oakland combined to hit five batters and walk 16 more during a doubleheader that Tri-State swept with Oakland, 2-1 and 6-4, at Southern High School Saturday.

Tri-State won the first part of the twinbill despite having just one hit, a first inning single by Mike Wright.

Oakland scored on a Cory Helbig solo homer. Tommie Reams singled three times.

The second game saw Chris Stein rebound from allowing four runs in the first three innings to get a complete game win.

Mike Hutchinson drove in two for the Titans. Pat Livingston and Cody Ellsworth each singled twice.

For the Oaks, Reams launched a three-run home run, and Levi Binger doubled in the loss.

Tri-State (6-0) and Oakland (4-2) play another doubleheader today at the Hot Stove Complex at 1 p.m.
