FSU rallies, defeats Saint Vincent, 15-13

— LATROBE, Pa. — Malory Brunett, Megan White and Ellie Garner combined to score nine goals as Frostburg State rallied for a 15-13 women’s lacrosse victory over Saint Vincent on Wednesday afternoon.

Brunett led the way with three goals and two assists, White had three goals and one assist and Garner scored three goals on only three shots.

The Bobcats (4-11) fell behind 4-0 in the first 10 minutes, but scored eight of the next nine goals for an 8-5 cushion. Brunett and White scored twice in the opening half. White began the second half with back-to-back goals in the first minute of play that started a 5-0 spurt that extended the Bobcats’ lead to 13-5.

The teams traded a pair of goals, making it 15-7, and the Bearcats (9-3) scored the final six goals of the day to narrow the final deficit to 15-13.

Frostburg State scored on 15 of its 26 shots. Saint Vincent led in shots, 36-26. Kaley Burkhardt had five goals and Sarah Wallerstedt three goals and two assists for the Bearcats.

Frostburg State will host St. Mary’s on Saturday on Senior Day.
