Dapper Dan tee ball begins Saturday

CUMBERLAND — The Dapper Dan Little League will open its tee ball division season this Saturday at Cavanaugh Ball Field located on Bowen Street in Cumberland. The practice/clinic will run from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

All registered players are eligible to attend. Any new player ages 4-5 as of April 30 can sign up at the field. Any questions can be referred to Adam Sterne (301)707-6401.


FSU’s Brunett, Byrd earn All-CAC honors

YORK, Pa.  Frostburg State University women’s lacrosse junior Malory Brunett and freshman Emani Byrd have both been named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference Second Team as announced by the league office, Wednesday.

This year’s award marks the second-consecutive second-team selection for Brunett who led the Bobcats in points (48), goals (38), ground balls (46) and draw controls (57). The Clarksville native, finished second on the team in assists (10) and caused turnovers (24) and scored her 100th career goal against McDaniel in early March.

The 2011 CAC Rookie of the Year, Brunett registered at least one point in all 16 games and scored a goal in 15 contests, including the final 14. She enters her senior season with 127 career goals and 155 career points.

In her first season with Frostburg, Byrd led the squad and finished fourth in the CAC with 31 caused turnovers. The Baltimore native also contributed six goals, 20 draw controls and 41 ground balls.

Frostburg State finished the season 4-12 overall
