HAGERSTOWN — After winning both of its matches on Saturday, Allegany College of Maryland returned to the Tracey Leather Memorial Tournament in Hagerstown to win two more on Sunday and finish the two-day event as the only undefeated team.
The Trojans tore through Frederick first, winning 25-15, 25-12 and 25-22. They finished the day by beating Baltimore 25-14, 25-7 and 25-13.
Against the Cougars, Bailey Sinai was 37 for 41 on her attacks with 13 kills and 22 digs, with Danielle Smith getting 19 out of 24 attacks with nine kills.
Kayla Hutson went 28-for-29 on sets with 15 assists, and Courtney Koelker had 10 digs with nine assists and four kills. Jessica Yoder threw in 19 digs.
Sinai added 13 kills and was 20-of-24 on attacks, and Koelker contributed eight assists and six kills. Hutson finished with 10 assists and Yoder with 10 aces.
Sinai was named to the all-tournament team as a result of her two days of work.
Allegany (12-7) will meet up with the Panthers again this evening in Baltimore.
Potomac State earns split on final day
HAGERSTOWN — Potomac State swept Northern Virginia, and lost a five-set match to Howard during the closing day of the Tracey Leather Memorial Tournament at Hagerstown Community College.
The Catamounts beat Northern Virginia 25-23, 25-14 and 25-14 before falling to Howard 18-25, 29-27, 25-19, 22-25 and 9-15.
Katie Bush had a double-double in both games, collecting 14 digs, 11 kills and nine points against Northern Virginia. Cody Corbin added 10 points, nine kills, eight digs and two aces, while Peyton Smith had 38 assists and six digs.
Brooke Wallace had 30 digs, Amber Wesley had 20 kills and Michaela Osbourne added 11 points and five blocks.
In the loss to the Hawks, Bush added 22 digs and 17 kills, and Corbin came through with 20 digs, 12 points and 10 kills.
Smith had 32 assists and eight digs, and Bobbi Burnette finished with 12 points and two aces. Wallace had 24 points, while Nadia Berhane got seven points and two aces.
On Saturday, PSC suffered a 3-2 loss to Montgomery-Rockville, losing the first two games 25-12 and 25-18 before winning the next two 25-17 and 25-21. Germantown won the fifth game 15-11.
Southern Maryland beat the Cats 3-1, winning games one and two 26-24 and 25-23, and game four 26-24. Potomac State won the third game 25-23.
Smith combined for 53 assists, 32 digs and 21 points on the day. Corbin added 35 points, 21 digs and 10 aces, and Katie Bush had a combined 27 digs, 13 kills and three blocks. Wallace had a total of 22 digs, Berhane had 15 digs and six points and Wesley had 31 kills.
Potomac State (12-8) plays Wednesday at Butler Community College.
