Petersburg blanks East Hardy

— PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Kaitlyn Keplinger twirled a complete game shutout for Petersburg in a 2-0 win over East Hardy in high school softball Tuesday at Petersburg.

Keplinger gave up only three hits and struck out five. Megan Cook’s RBI single in the sixth gave the Vikings a 2-0 cushion. Marley Thompson ripped two doubles and a single and Cheyenne Earle smacked two singles.

Jodie Funkhouser pitched well in the loss, allowing two runs on six hits. Morgan Basye, Rayann Foltz and Morgan Mongold had East Hardy’s only hits.

Petersburg (15-2) plays at Moorefield today at 5 p.m. East Hardy (12-4) will visit Broadway, Va., Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
