ACM wins, 72-70

— LA PLATA  — Davon Williams recorded a double-double and Allegany College of Maryland was able to hold on for a 72-70 win over Maryland JUCO opponent Southern Maryland Friday night in La Plata.

Williams finished with a game-high 26 points and led the Trojans with 13 rebounds. Larry Terry scored 16 points and added five rebounds and two assists, and Ricky Mosley finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

The Trojans (7-16, 4-8) was ahead for most of the first half and carried a 35-20 lead through to the second half. With a few minutes remaining in the second half and the Trojans ahead by eight points, Southern Maryland worked its way back to within two points at 72-70. The Hawks were able to hold for a final shot and got one at the buzzer, but the chance rimmed-out giving ACM the win.

The Hawks were led by Devon Brown’s 24 points, while Juwan Cole and Troy Cummings finished with 16 points.

The Trojans travel to Dundalk on Monday.
