Torbet leads Hyndman to victory

HYNDMAN, Pa. — Brad Torbet scored 26 points to lead Hope for Hyndman Charter School over Meyersdale Area, 79-42, in high school boys basketball Thursday night.

Torbet hit 10 field goals and was 6-for-9 from the free-throw line. Tim Leydig scored 18 points for the Hornets, hitting all four of Hope for Hyndman’s three-point goals.

Dan Wisnewski added 12 points for the Hornets, and Seth Miller scored 10.

Hope for Hyndman led from the outset in cruising to the victory, 22-10 after the first quarter, 36-19 at the half and 56-29 entering the fourth.

Hope for Hyndman (14-5) will visit McConnellsburg on Monday.

Hope for Hyndman won the junior varsity game, 51-28. Jordan Hiquet scored 28 points.

Freshmen

Allegany 60, Frankfort 44

CUMBERLAND — The Allegany freshman basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Frankforty.

Jason Copman led Allegany with 15 points. Tyler Eirich and Caleb Sivic both scored nine, while Sage Dye, Nate Green and Gaven DeHaven all scored eight.

For Frankfort, Jake Young scored 19, Devin Alt 10 and Grant Clayton eight.

Allegany will play Saturday, 2 p.m., at Southern.
