Westernport Giants Pee Wee sign-ups today

WESTERNPORT — The Westernport Giants will be holding sign-ups for Pee Wee football and cheerleading today at the Potomac Fire Hall in Westernport from noon to 4 p.m.

Valley football reunion postponed

KEYSER, W.Va. — Today’s meeting of Valley High School football players and coaches has been postponed due to unforeseen events. The meeting will be rescheduled.

 

Cradle League reunion Thursday

CUMBERLAND — A reunion of players who played in the Cradle Baseball League from 1943-1949 will be held Thursday, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Coney Island Famous Weiners Restaurant on North Liberty Street.

All participants are invited to attend. The Cradle League was the first organized baseball league in Cumberland for boys under 14 years old.

 

FSU’s Buckland qualifies for ECACs

MEADVILLE, Pa. — Frostburg State sophomore Curtis Buckland hit an ECAC qualifying mark in the discus in the eighth annual Gator Track and Field Invitational at Allegheny College on Friday.

Buckland, one of three Bobcats participating, finished sixth in the event, set a personal record and qualified for the ECAC Championships with a toss of 44.68 meters.

Junior Trey Davis also set a personal record and took 10th place with a distance of 45.66 meters in the hammer throw. Senior Christian Smith was eighth in shot put at 14.19 meters.

The ECAC Outdoor Championships will be held Thursday and Friday at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.

 

Washington JCP sign-up dates set

CUMBERLAND — Washington Middle School will hold sign-ups for JCP Soccer on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 25, from 10 to 11 a.m., and Thursday, May 30, from 6 to 7 p.m. All sign-ups will be in Room CE20 in the Allegany College Continuing Education Building.

The varsity division is for boys and girls the ages of 11 to 14 as of Sept. 1 in grades 6 to 8. The jayvee division is for boys and girls ages 8 to 10 as of Sept. 1 in grades 3 to 5. The B division is for players ages 5 to 7 as of Sept. 1 in grades K to 2. All children entering kindergarten are eligible to play. New players need to bring a copy of their birth certificate to the sign-up.
