Calvary advances to soccer title game

— CRESAPTOWN — Victoria Moreland scored on a corner kick 7:14 into the match for the only goal of the day as the Calvary Christian Academy Lady Eagles defeated New Life Christian, 1-0, in the semifinals of the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls soccer tournament Thursday at Liberty Field.

The victory makes Calvary 13-1 overall and 12-1 in the MDCC, the best records in girls soccer in the history of the school.

Most importantly, Calvary will play in the conference championship game for the third straight season, facing Shalom on Monday, at 7 p.m., in Chambersburg.

On Thursday, Calvary outshot New Life, 22-9, with 10 corners to New Life’s one. Kerenne Shaffer made nine saves in goal, while Tirzo Vick had 15 saves for New Life.
