GLEN BURNE  — It’s déjà vu all over again for the Mountain Ridge Miners after they beat Perryville by one run, 4-3, for the second straight year to earn a return trip to the Maryland 1A State Finals this weekend at the University of Maryland.

After beating the Panthers 1-0 in eight innings last season, the Miners came back with 12 hits and four runs to beat the Panthers for  their 45th straight win. Mountain Ridge will now play Colonel Richardson, a 22-7 winner over Dunbar, on either Friday or Saturday at the University of Maryland College Park in the championship.

Kate Llewellyn got the Miners started with an inside-the-park home run in the second inning. She also added a single and scored twice. Jenna Miller finished with three singles, and Emma Baker and Kiya Wilhelm had two singles each. Wilhelm drove in a run with one of her singles.

Wilhelm and Chelsea Muir rallied the Miners from down 3-2 to give them a 4-3 lead. Muir singled home Carlie Lewis and Wilhelm knocked in Llewellyn.

Lewis finished with eight strikeouts, six hits allowed and three walks. She allowed two runners to reach in the top of the seventh, but worked her way out of trouble to lock up the win.

Lindsey Poore led the Panthers with two hits and had five strikeouts in the complete-game loss.
