85th YMCA Sunday School Basketball League open for teams, players

CUMBERLAND — The Earl Nonnenmann/YMCA Sunday School Basketball League is seeking teams and/or players for the coming season, the league’s 85th.

Any church or Sunday School that wishes to enter a team, or any player attending a church that doesn't have a team but who wishes to play, should contact Barry Shambaugh at 301-729-6150 or 240-727-6572.

The deadline for entering a team, or teams, is Monday, Nov. 26. The season is scheduled to begin Saturday, Dec. 8.

 

Tri-Towns League sign-up Saturday

WESTERNPORT — The Tri-Towns Basketball League will hold its final sign-up Saturday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Union Hall on Main Street in Westernport. The league is open for boys and girls, grades 1-8, in the Westmar school district, the old Bruce High School or Piedmont school districts.

Allegany ’71 team to host social in honor of Ed Schwarz, Jim Daum

CUMBERLAND — Allegany High School’s undefeated football team of 1971 will host its second reunion social at Geatz’s Restaurant on Friday, Nov. 23, noon until 6 p.m., to honor the lives of the late Coach Ed Schwarz and Jim Daum, with proceeds being donated to Allegany High School in their names.
