Warner, Grantsville beat Frostburg Legion

— FROSTBURG — Noah Warner struck out six in five innings while holding Frostburg Legion to four hits as the Grantsville Sons of American Legion won 15-5 in five innings Thursday at the Frostburg Armory.

Warner was one of four players with two hits and at least one RBI. He singled, doubled and drove in a run as Grantsville finished with 11 hits. Hunter Mallow and Cayleb Broadwater both had three RBIs. Mallow on a base hit and a double while Broadwater had two base hits. Keygan Broadwater also had a single and a double and Colton Houser belted a triple. Both finished with two RBIs.

Devon Dinicola had a two-run base hit and John Taylor doubled for two of the Legion’s four hits.

After a five-run bottom of the second, Frostburg led briefly, 5-4, before Grantsville pounded out eight runs in the top of the third to regain control of the game.

Grantsville (16-4) will play Cork’s Cars on Monday at Northern High School. Frostburg Legion (7-10-1) visits Madigan’s Auto Sales at Broadford Park on Monday.

KEYSER, W.Va. — Caleb Sivic dialed up eight strikeouts and allowed only two walks during a five-inning no-hitter over the Keyser Moose Wednesday at John Kruk Field.

Sivic got plenty of support from his team in the form of 17 hits. Mike Simanski led the way with three doubles, while Chris Palasik and Parker Preaskorn had two singles apiece.

Outdoor Power will take on Rotary at 5:30 Monday at Memorial Field. Moose also plays Monday, 6 p.m., at Holler Field against Hobo’s.
