Petersburg’s Pool fires perfect game

Vikings rout Tygarts Valley in five, 13-0

PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Corey Pool pitched a perfect game for Petersburg in a 13-0 win over Tygarts Valley in five innings Friday at Petersburg.

Pool struck out 11 of the 15 batters he faced. At the plate, the Vikings were led by Bret Real, who had three hits and three runs scored. Brandon George went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Trevor Harman and Jessie Earle each drove in two.

Brandon Pritt got the loss, allowing seven runs in the first two innings.

Petersburg (1-0) plays at Keyser Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Hampshire 6, Keyser 0

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Shane Ennis threw five, one-hit, shutout innings to lead Hampshire in a win over Keyser in their season opener at Hampshire Saturday.

Andrew Parrish and Daniel Troup each had singles to account for both of the Golden Tornado’s hits.

Aaron Rogers threw three shutout innings for Keyser before allowing four runs in the fourth.

Josh Crawford pitched two scoreless innings to close it out for the Trojans. He also had a double, single and two RBIs at the plate. Ethan Turner and Dane Heavener each slapped RBI singles.

Keyser (0-1) hosts East Hardy Monday at 4:30 p.m. and Hampshire (1-0) hosts Frankfort Monday at 5 p.m.
