Trojans stretch streak to 12

No. 1 Hampshire faces No. 2 Allegany today at 6 o’clock

ROMNEY, W.Va. — No. 1 Hampshire, led by a complete game gem from Matt Maiers,  won their twelfth in a row, 10-2, by beating Berkeley Springs Wednesday at Hampshire.

Maiers improved his record to 7-0, allowing one earned run on two hits and striking out nine. He also hit an RBI double.

Also for the Trojans, Josh Crawford doubled twice and singled, driving in three. Garrett Crawford added a two-run single. Seth Brooks knocked an RBI single.

Jared Spielman lined an RBI double and Zach Wise singled for the Indians.

Hampshire (20-1) hosts Southern and Allegany today starting at 4:30 p.m.

Allegany    14

Moorefield    3

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Chris Fram double twice, driving in four runs for Allegany in a 14-3 victory at Moorefield Wednesday.

Wade McGee and Colton Sivic each produced two runs. Carter Imes doubled twice and singled. Matt Oleksik singled twice.

The Campers used a pair of five-run innings, the third and sixth, to break away from Moorefield.

Garrett Keller singled twice and Lance Taylor doubled for the Yellow Jackets, but they were never able to sustain any sort of offense, putting up single runs in the second, third and fifth innings.

Allegany (14-3) plays today at Hampshire at 6 p.m. in a match between the top two teams in the Times-News poll.

Moorefield (18-7) plays a doubleheader at Pocahontas County today at 4 p.m.

Fort Hill    0

ACCIDENT — Freshman Aaron Rodeheaver spun a complete game shutout, scattering five hits, striking out seven and walking none in a 5-0 win over Fort Hill at Northern Wednesday.

All of the Sentinels hits were singles. Rodeheaver also hit two singles. Seth Mast raked a 2-run double. Jeremy Bender also doubled.

Garry Legeer also threw a complete game, allowing seven hits.

Northern’s jayvees fell to Mountain Ridge, 12-4, in six innings on Tuesday.

Russell Beeman got the win for the Miners. Dylan Shimko drove in five runs on three singles. Brandon Ishler brought in three with two singles.

 Ben Beeman singled thrice, driving in two and Clark Morin doubled for the Huskies.

Northern’s jayvees play a doubleheader at Meyersdale Saturday at 10 a.m.

Northern’s varsity (11-7) hosts Frankfort today at 4:30 p.m., while Fort Hill (5-6) hosts Hedgesville for a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
