Pendleton sweeps, advances

FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Kyle Kretzschmer drove in eight runs in two games for Pendleton County as it swept Pocahontas County, 10-0 and 15-3, in the West Virginia Class A, Region II, Section 3 playoffs on Thursday at Pendleton.

Daniel Heavener combined to allow just two hits in the five inning first game. They were both singles by Brandon Hammons and Cody Sharp.

Luke Yokum and Logan Cooper each drove in two runs for the Wildcats.

Kretzschmer pounded a grand slam and a single for five RBIs in game two. Heavener belted a two-run homer. Yokum brought in three more runs and Jessie Lambert singled three times with an RBI.

Lucas Fuller raked an RBI double along with a single for Pocahontas.

Pendleton (18-10) hosts the winner of East Hardy and Moorefield on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m.
