READING, Pa. — Ryan Serio scored seven goals and Frostburg State tied a season high with 24 as the Bobcats overwhelmed Centenary, 24-15, to earn a berth in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Region men’s lacrosse championship match.
Second-seeded Frostburg State (13-6) will play No. 1 Albright, who defeated No. 4 Lebanon Valley, 13-9, in the other semifinal game, at Albright in today’s 1 p.m. tournament final.
Centenary (14-4) scored the first five goals in Saturday’s semifinal with Frostburg State. Devin Colegrove’s goal midway through the first period snapped the Cyclones’ streak and began an unstoppable one by the Bobcats, who outscored Centenary 24-10 the rest of the way.
Greg Bourne gave FSU its first lead, 9-8, in the second quarter, during a stretch of nine straight goals in an 11-minute span for the Bobcats.
Colegrove finished with four goals and two assists, Bourne had four goals, and Spenser Love a goal and four assists. Kreigh Kirby added two goals and an assist, Chris Rios and Spencer Barnett had a goal and an assist, and Nick Stailey, Devon Stailey, Erik Geiser and Michael Kibler also scored goals for FSU, which outshot Centenary 54-43.
Cameron Gunn had five goals and Robert Nuzzolese four for Centenary.
The 24 goals scored by Frostburg matched the Bobcats’ season high in a 24-5 early-season win over Cazenovia.
