Mountain Ridge softball sign-ups today, Dec. 18

FROSTBURG — The Mountain Ridge district middle school girls softball team will hold registration today and Wednesday, Dec. 18, 6 to 7:45 p.m., in the John Bambacus Community Room at the Frostburg State University library.

Any girl in grades 6-8 at Mount Savage Middle School or Westmar Middle School is eligible to sign up. For information, call Iosefa Pua’auli at 804-898-2469, or David Robertson at 240-727-1294.

FSU’s Arrington named to All-East Region team

FROSTBURG — Frostburg State University standout Darius Arrington has been selected to the D3football.com 2013 All-East Region team it was announced Tuesday on their website.

The senior guard closed his Bobcat playing career with numerous awards, while starting 37 of 40 games over his four years. A three-time First Team All-Empire 8 honoree, Arrington started nine games this past season and helped the Bobcats to the league’s second best rushing attack at 156.8 yards per game.

During his four-year career, the Jessup native helped the Bobcats average over 150 yards rushing per game in each of the last three seasons. Arrington was also a two-time USA Football News Division III Preseason All-American.

Frostburg finished 1-9 overall.

Redskins promote Jamison, place Royster on IR

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins have promoted rookie running back Jawan Jamison to the active roster.

The Redskins made the move Tuesday to replace running back Evan Royster, who was put on injured reserve.

Jamison was taken in the seventh round of the draft. He was cut at the end of preseason and spent the first 14 weeks of the regular season on the practice squad.
