Alco upsets Frankfort, 3-1

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Courtney Landis scored a pair of goals and Tallia Logsdon hit one late in the match to ice Allegany’s 3-1 win over fifth-ranked Frankfort Wednesday at Frankfort.

Landis gave the Campers a 2-0 halftime lead with unassisted goals at 21:10 and 20:05 of the first half.

The Falcons cut the lead in half at 23:12 of the second as Meaghan Eyler scored on an assist by Kayla Sentelle. Logsdon, however, put the match away for Allegany at 2:28.

Frankfort outshot Allegany, 14-8, while had Alco a 2-1 edge in corner kicks. Brooke Snyder had three saves in goal for Frankfort and Tori Bohrer had three saves in the first half for Allegany and Rachel Wormack four in the second half.

Frankfort (10-8) concludes the regular season and will host a Sectional match as the No. 2 seed on Tuesday against an opponent to be determined on Monday. Allegany (5-6) will play at Fort Hill on Saturday.

 

Allegany County CC meet today at Mountain Ridge

FROSTBURG — The 2012 Allegany County Cross Country Championship Meet will be held today at the Mountain Ridge High School campus, not Parris Glendenning Park. The girls race will start at 4:15 p.m. followed by the boys. The course starts on the lower practice field below the tennis courts and is run on the Mountain Ridge campus.

 

Audrey Cochran makes 10 saves for Keyser

KEYSER, W.Va. — Keyser goalie Audrey Cochran was incorrectly identified as Vanessa Wheeler in Wednesday’s edtition of the Cumberland Times-News.

Cochran had 10 saves in a 7-0 loss to Northern.

The Times-News regrets the error.
