Vincennes powers past ACM

Trojans make home debut Thursday night

— VINCENNES, Ind. — Vincennes University jumped on Allegany early, built a big halftime lead and went on for an 87-48 victory over Allegany in the final game of the Vincennes Trailblazers Invitational Saturday evening.

Twelve players scored for Vincennes (2-0), with Deshawn Delaney leading the way with 16 points.

Jeremiah Williams added 13, Lamine Dieng 12 and Darius Carter nine for Vincennes, which led 43-19 at halftime. The closest the Trojans got in the second half was 18 points.

Ricky Mosley led Allegany, hitting three field goals and 9 of 13 free throws for 15 points. He also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Alex Brayboy had nine points.

“Vincennes has a very experienced team, with nine sophomores, and they took command of the game early,’’ said ACM coach Mike Baker. “We did battle back in the second half, but then they took off again.

“We missed 16 free throws and had 30 turnovers, and you’re not going to win many games when you do that.”

Allegany (0-2) makes its home debut and begins Maryland JUCO‚Äąplay on Thursday, against Chesapeake, at 7 p.m.
