FROSTBURG — Molly Offstein won the girls meet and led Mountain Ridge to the team title as well in the Mountain Ridge Cross County Invitational, held in near perfect weather conditions Tuesday at Glendening Park.
Mountain Ridge’s Jody Besaw was the boys individual winner, while Keyser placed four finishers in the top 10 to win the team title.
The Miners won the girls meet with 20 points, followed by Southern with 54, Bishop Walsh with 65 and Keyser with 85. Northern, Fort Hill and Lighthouse had incomplete team scores.
Molly Offstein, a sophomore, finished first with a time of 21:10, leading a 1-2-3 finish for Mountain Ridge. Madison Offstein was runner-up in 21:41 and Andie Bennett took third in 22:39.
BW’s Maggie Czapski (23:02) and Mountain Ridge’s Maggie Poland (23:37) rounded out the top five.
Keyser won the boys meet with 34 points. Southern was second with 45, followed by Allegany with 91, Mountain Ridge with 93 and Bishop Walsh with 96. Fort Hill, Northern and Lighthouse had incomplete team scores.
Besaw won with a time of 18:36. Keyser’s Leland Henderson was second in 18:42 and Southern’s Devan Hamrick finished third in 18:54. Keyser’s Jordan Lawrence (19:03) and Allegany’s Walker McGrath (19:03) rounded out the top five.
On Saturday, Mountain Ridge runs in the Johns Hopkins Invitational and Keyser will compete in the Big Spring Bulldog Invitational in Newville, Pa.
