KEYSER, W.Va. — Frankfort reeled off wins over Keyser, Petersburg and Berkeley Springs to win the Potomac Valley Conference Tournament Saturday at Keyser High School.
The Falcons edged their way past host Keyser, losing the first game 25-15 before rallying to win 25-23 and 29-27. The Vikings and Indians proved easier as Frankfort punched Petersburg 25-15 and 25-16, and belted Berkeley Springs 25-17 and 25-14.
Cassidy Cosner had a combined 29 kills, 25 points, 15 digs and three aces, and Sarah Dayton recorded 44 assists, 16 points, 15 digs and three aces. Autumn Dishman added 52 digs and 26 points, and Caroline Timbrook collected 22 digs, 11 points and seven aces. Taylor Sisk finished with 17 kills and two blocks, and Kayla Rowe had 13 kills and six blocks.
The junior varsity teams picked up wins over Keyser (25-23, 18-25 and 25-16) and Petersburg (25-23 and 25-15). Sydney berry had 49 digs and 14 points with eight aces, Hanna Slider had 12 assists, seven points and three aces and Taylor Stein had 10 kills.
Frankfort is now 14-11-3 and will play a tri-match with Bridgeport and Fairmont Senior in Bridgeport on Tuesday.
Petersburg goes 2-1 at PVC
KEYSER, W.Va. — Petersburg lost the first game of all three of its matches on Saturday, but was able to rally for wins in two of them to go 2-1 in three matches Saturday at the Potomac Valley Conference Tournament.
The Vikings beat Berkeley Springs 2-1 (23-25, 25-20 and 25-22) and downed Keyser by the same score (13-25, 26-24 and 25-22). They lost in two games to Frankfort, 25-15 and 25-16.
Marley Thompson had 17 points and 10 aces against the Indians. Megan Cook had 13 kills and Cheyenne Earle had 20 assists. Against Keyser, Earle had 17 points with eight aces and 18 assists, Cook added seven more kills and Lacee Sites had two kills and five points. No stats were provided for their match with Frankfort.
Petersburg (6-4) visits Moorefield on Monday.
