Mount Airy pulls away in second half

— MOUNT AIRY — Calvary held off Mount Airy in the first half, but the Eagles’ defense finally gave way to three goals in the second half to have their season end in the semifinal round of the Maryland Christian School Tournament Thursday afternoon.

Carter Shaffer had a goal and an assist during the 3-0 win, with Bruno Briasco and Sam Burrall also adding one goal each. The Lions outshot Calvary 17-5 and the teams tied with three corner kicks each.

Matt Dillow picked up nine saves for the Eagles and Teddy Thompson had three in the win.

Calvary wraps the season up with a 19-4 mark.
