CUMBERLAND — The Allegany Campers go matinee as they open their home schedule today, 2:30 p.m., at Greenway Avenue Stadium against the Maryland Academy of Technology and Health Sciences (MATHS).
The Campers opened their season last week at Southern with a 34-8 win over the Rams, as quarterback Trenton Eirich passed for four touchdowns, completing 8 of 15 passes for 193 yards. Eirich also rushed for a touchdown and directed an Allegany offense that gained 368 yards, while the Campers defense limited Southern to 146.
Eirich’s first TD pass of the season came on Alco’s second possession when he connected with Kirk Robinette for 26 yards. He then found Darion Lopez on a play that went in the books as a 15-yarder, but actually covered closer to 40 as he rebounded from a snap that sailed over his head to start the play.
Eirich also hit Dalton Golliday for a 40-yard touchdown pass, then went to Robinette again for 64 yards and the score, before taking the final TD in himself from 14 yards out.
Allegany rushed for 176 yards on 29 carries.
MATHS scheduled game last week with Friends School of Baltimore was canceled, so this will be the Panthers’ first game this season.
Allegany defeated MATHS last year, 55-0.
