BAKER, W.Va. — After allowing a single to the leadoff batter, East Hardy’s Jodie Funkhouser settled in to keep Martinsburg hitless for the remainder of the night as the No. 4 Cougars collected a 10-0 shutout over the Bulldogs Thursday night.
Funkhouser finished with eight strikeouts and issued one walk in the five-inning one-hitter. Casey Showman went 2-for-3 with one run batted in, while jade Foltz and Sarah Liller both added a run-scoring double.
Neither team scored during the first two innings, but East Hardy put together a six-run third inning and scored the final four runs in the fourth to account for all 10.
Sabrina Fout hit a single for the only Martinsburg hit.
The Cougars (14-7) play a doubleheader at Washington tonight at 5 p.m.
Fort Hill 12
OAKLAND — Sarah Lowery homered twice and Alesha Jackson also went deep to power No. 3 Fort Hill to a 12-0 win over Southern Thursday in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference in Oakland.
Lowery finished the day with three hits by adding a single to her two home runs, while Jackson complimented her homer with a single of her own.
Sentinels shortstop Alexis Kimmel singled twice and scored three times.
Fort Hill (10-5, 8-3 AMAC) plays today at Mountain Ridge. Southern (7-5, 3-4) plays at Allegany today at 4:30.
The Southern jayvees defeated Fort Hill 21-5. Brianna Bosley had three hits, including a home run, while Madison Corley and Felisha Tasker had two hits each.
Donahue and MacIntosh had two singles each for the Sentinels.
ACCIDENT — Tori Bohrer threw a complete game two-hitter Friday in Crespatown to push Allegany to a 4-0 shutout of No. 4 Northern in an AMAC softball match-up.
Bohrer recorded five strikeouts and allowed to singles over seven innings to earn the decision. She helped her own cause by singling twice.
Ashleigh Eisentrout hit a double and a single to drive in one run, and Courtney Landis added an RBI-double. Kyleigh Sellers and Jasmine Benson drove one run each with a single.
The Campers (7-5, 5-4 AMAC) play host to Southern at 4:30. The Huskies (7-5, 5-5) plays today at Salisbury.
SALISBURY, Pa. — Savannah Leonard and Sidney Lear combined on a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and got plenty of offensive support as Meyersdale defeated Salisbury in five innings.
Ally Hershberger doubled and singled, and Maddy Bungard and Abby Stahl singled twice for Meyersdale, which had seven hits and received 15 bases on balls.
Leonard struck out eight in three innings for the win. Lear fanned four over the final two innings.
Emily Lowery smacked a pair of triples and scored twice for Salisbury, which hosts Northern tonight at 7:30.
