Bobcats honored on All-CAC team

YORK, Pa. — Frostburg State senior midfielder Taylor Cassatt, who led the Bobcats and was among the conference's top scorers, was named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference first team in women’s lacrosse.

Junior attacker Megan White and sophomore defender Jessica Jones were named to the second team.

• Cassatt scored 26 goals and had 15 assists for 41 points, which led the team and was 12th best in the conference. She was seventh in the league in assists, had a point in all but two games and finished her FSU career with 132 points — 96 goals and 36 assists.

Cassatt set the FSU single-season mark for draw controls this spring with 79. She also led the team in ground balls (38) and caused turnovers (25).

• White led the team with 32 goals and was third in scoring with 38 points. She capped her junior season with 11 goals in the final three regular-season games and had at least two points in 11 of 16 games.

• Jones, in her second year as a starter, was second on the team in draw controls (27) and third in ground balls (25). She scooped up a season-high six ground balls a 19-11 win over Wesley. Offensively, she added three goals and three assists.

FSU finished the season with a 5-11 overall record, including an appearance in the CAC Tournament.

Tony Ray Jr. hits hole in one at Polish Pines

KEYSER, W.Va. — Tony Ray Jr. hit a hole in one Friday at Polish Pines Golf Club. Ray aced the 127-yard No. 4 using a 9-iron. He was playing in a group with Les Chaney and Josh Ray.

Horseshoes season begins Thursday

CRESAPTOWN — The horseshoes season at the Big Claw begins Thursday at 7 p.m.

    In the opener, Martin, staked to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, allowed only two hits, struck out eight and walked just one in a complete-game victory.
