Barton native working for NASCAR team

Brett McCutcheon is a member of Casey Mears Racing pit crew

CORNELIUS, N.C. — Barton native and Westmar High School graduate Brett T. McCutcheon has been hired by Germain Racing to work with the Sprint Cup Series Casey Mears Racing team.

McCutcheon graduated from the NASCAR Technical Institute in Charlotte, N.C., on March 22 and was chosen as the Student Speaker of the graduating class after earning 14 Student of the Class Awards throughout the program. He received the Spec Engine, the Ford Accelerated Credential Training, the NASCAR Technology Pit Crew Award and was nominated to the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society.

Prior to graduation, McCutcheon was invited to work behind the wall as a member of the Casey Mears Team.

McCutcheon, who currently resides in Cornelius, N.C., is the son of Tom and Glenna McCutcheon.
