Alco messes with Miners

Sivic’s 3-run shot sparks Campers to 8-6 win

FROSTBURG — Colton Sivic homered for the  second time in as many nights, launching a three-run bomb that catapulted No. 2 Allegany to an 8-6 AMAC win at Mountain Ridge on Friday afternoon.

Sivic’s homer came in the top of the fifth to extend Allegany’s lead from one to four. Carter Imes drove in two with a single in the first. Trenton Eirich singled and raked an RBI double in the seventh.

Sivic homered last night to help the Campers knock off No. 1 Hampshire.

Jake Hafer drove in both of the Miners runs with a single in the first. Michael Strietbeck added two singles.

Mountain Ridge (12-7, 10-5  AMAC) hosts Fort Hill Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. and Allegany (16-3, 12-3 AMAC) plays at Southern Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Northern 29, Bishop Walsh 5

ACCIDENT — Fifth-ranked Northern erupted for 26 hits, and Jerad Fike was responsile for five RBIs in a 29-5 defeat of Bishop Walsh in five innings Friday at Northern.

Fike doubled twice and singled to drive in the five runs. Seth Mast finished a home run shy of the cycle, Aaron Rodeheaver doubled and singled three times and Justin Derado drove in four on a double and a single. Aaron Broadwater added two RBIs, Brooks Carr doubled and singled twice and Jeremy Bender brought in two on three singles.

Tyler Bittinger and Beck Sherrard each had two-run singles.

Dylan Wilson singled twice for the Spartans. Seth Amezcua and Tony Russell each hit RBI singles.

Northern (12-8) awaits a playoff draw on Wednesday to determine who and where they play Friday.

Bishop Walsh (2-13) hosts Fort Hill Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Southern 15, Tucker County 2

OAKLAND — Seth Holler brought in four runs for Southern in a 15-2, five-inning, rout of Tucker County at Southern Friday.

Holler brought in his runs by hiting a double, and singling twice. Austin Reckart, who pitched all five innings and allowed two runs on five hits, helped his own cause with three RBIs. Collin Lewis doubled and singled. Tristan Nazelrod had a 2-run single, and Shawn Shahan added an RBI single.

Michael Lewis singled twice and drove in one, and Nick Akins singled and scored for Tucker County.

Southern (4-13) hosts Allegany Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Petersburg    7

Pendleton    2

FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Alex See belted a solo homer for Petersburg in a 7-2 win at Pendleton County Friday.

See also doubled and drove in two. Ryan Colaw brought in two on a double and a single.

Daniel Heavener had an RBI single in the first inning for Pendleton.

The Wildcats (16-10) will host Pocahontas County in the first round of the West Virginia Class A Region II, Section 3 Tournament. Game one of the best-of-three series is set to begin on Monday at 6 p.m.
