PSC still alive at Region XX

— WYE MILLS — It’s win or go home for Potomac State at the Region XX Tournament with the Catamounts needing to win four straight games to claim the championship after going 1-1 on Friday afternoon.

Potomac State leaned on a seven-run second inning to jump on top of Dundalk during a 10-7 win, but ran into some tough pitching againt host Chesapeake during an 8-0 loss later in the day.

The Cats (25-7) play today agaisnt the loser Hagerstown and Catonsville beginning at noon.

Kellieanne Tyner held the Cats to four hits in the second game, while her offense supplied her with 10 hits. The Skipjacks used three walks to help them score six runs in the third, and then put on the last two runs in the fifth.

Stephanie Weyermiller deliverd three singles, and Tyner hit a double and a single.

Taylor Rice finished with two singles in the loss.

In the win over Dundalk, Allie Lockhart and Brittani Chambers homered to power the Cats to a three-run win.

Lockhart went deep with a runner on in the second and Chambers had two on when she hit hers. Rice finished 4-for-4, all singles, and Savannah Hose and Morgna Wright had a double and a single each.

Hannah Thomas hit a solo home run for Dundalk.

Sydney Ouzts pitched into the fifth and had six strikeouts with one walk.
